IV therapy delivers fluids, electrolytes and vitamins straight into a vein through a small catheter. Because it skips digestion, nutrients reach the bloodstream at full strength, and fluids rehydrate faster than drinking. In Manhattan it is used for recovery after travel, workouts or a late night, during a cold, and as part of wellness routines.

Expect a short health questionnaire and vitals check, then a small needle placement in the arm. Most drips take 30 to 60 minutes in a lounge chair. Some services come to your home, office or hotel. Mild bruising at the site is the most common side effect.
IV therapy is a medical procedure. A licensed nurse should place the IV under a medical director, and you should be screened for heart or kidney conditions, pregnancy and medication interactions. Evidence for many wellness benefits is still limited, so treat drips as a supplement to sleep, food and water, not a replacement.
