We want every New Yorker to be able to use the Hot List, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control.

What we do

• Semantic headings, landmarks and labeled form fields throughout the site.
• Keyboard access to the header menus, the search finder, claim and review forms, and all buttons. Menus close with Escape.
• Text contrast that meets WCAG 2.1 AA on the ink and red brand colors.
• Alt text on provider photos and icons marked decorative where they carry no meaning.
• Respect for reduced motion settings on animated elements.

Known gaps

Some provider photos come from Google and have generic alt text until the practice claims the listing. Embedded maps are provided by Google and may not be fully navigable by keyboard; the address and a directions link sit next to every map.
